Compaq HTPC

2007-current

2007 HTPC: a good friend gave us a compaq pentium 4 tower that I configured to work as our HTPC running Windows XP and XBMC hooked up to the Schneider Tv.

  • 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4
  • 512Mb RAM

2008 the PSU died and I think I fried the motherboard not realizing that Compaq’s ATX pinout is not standard. It might have not been fried but I had no Compaq psu to test. Replaced the motherboard with a socket 755 AsRock with a dual core celeron. Right now this system is serving duty as a POS in a friend’s store.

Upgraded after the incident

  • E1400 dual core celeron 1.8 Ghz
  • 512Mb ram (or 1Gb)
  • AsRock 775Dual-880Pro with ddr and ddr2 support with agp and pcie slots (used as transition board to use both old and new components)

2009 – current after upgrading the htpc machine this computer was last seen working as a POS computer for a friend’s store
