Dell Optiplex Tower

2009 – current

2009 received a dell optiplex pentium II tower I think the GXA or GX110 (the similar looking gx200 had rdimm’s so it’s not that)

  • 256 Mb SDRAM
  • PII 400 Mhz
  • 4,3 Gb HDD + 10 Gb HDD
  • on board graphics, sound, network and usb
  • Lot’s of pci and isa expansion ports

This particular machine has a lot of history. It changed a lot of hands trough a good friend’s family, time during which I fixed it a few times (they had it since 2005). At some point our friend finally upgraded and gave me the machine. My mother used it for a few months until I got the time and parts to upgrade her to a better machine.

November 2011

To save space and better use the old monster I upgraded it with various parts I had:

  • PIII 450Mhz,
  • 512Mb  SDRAM
  • 20Gb and 40Gb hdd
  • Aditional network and usb cards

Now it’s doing duty as a test server, running nagios, etc. Also runs an old scsi card with which I recovered some data from old drives at some point.
