Intel I7 2600K desktop

2012-01-27 – current

2012-01-27 Upgraded my desktop to a more serious machine. I run a lot of virtual machines at the same time and the old e6500 simply wasn’t cutting it. So it was time for a serious workhorse.

  • Intel I7 2600k quad core, ht cpu
  • Zalman CNPS5X Performa (really good cooler for the price)
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P motherboard
  • 16Gb Corsair Vengeance Blue LP DDR3 1600Mhz
  • Seasonic Bronze 620W PSU

Kept from the previous version:

  • Floston Topsider Black case
  • Gigabyte nVidia GT 220, 1024MB DDR3 video card
  • 1TB WD Black  + 640Gb WD Blue
  • Asus Lightscribe SATA DVDRW

An SSD is in order but I’m waiting for the HP Microserver to arrive to consolidate all my storage. It should be the only update here for some time from now on…

2012-02-12 pulled the 640GB WD Blue drive to put it as a system and data drive in the HP N40L

2012-04-20 A Samsung 830 64Gb SSD is now the boot drive.
