Socket A desktop

2000 – 2006

2000 I got a new desktop:  a new no name whitebox  (actually my first new computer!)

  • Duron 600Mhz
  • VIA based motherboard
  • 20Gb Seagate HDD (leather jacket :) )
  • 128Mb SDRAM
  • S3 Savage AGP video card 4Mb
  • Creative 52x CD-ROM

2002 New CPU from a dead pc (struck by lightning only cpu and ram survived)

  • AMD Duron 1200 (my father has this cpu inside his pc)

2003 I upgraded my desktop to a new socket A duron on a flaky motherboard. (leftover free parts so no fuss about them)

  • AMD Duron 1800mhz
  • Another VIA based motherboard
  • 256 mb ram
  • ATI 9250 128Mb video card
  • lg dvd-rw (my mother is currently running this pc today)

2005 Upgraded the motherboard to an Asus A7V880 motherboard hoping to ditch the problems the old flaky board was caused. Well I  cured those but found an incompatibility with the ATI videocard that only a switch to NVDIA some years later cured.

2008 – current Found the time and ennergy to reinstall this flaky system once more. Fortunately the NVIDIA card gives no issues like the ATI one did and my mother is using this final configuration with a 160Gb IDE hdd.
